WDC Dinner/Auction Items

The Wildcat Diamond Club’s 5th Annual Dinner/Auction is only one week away.   The event will feature a steak dinner prepared by Alexander’s Steak House, a tribute to the 1998 Wildcat Regional Championship team, and both loud and silent auctions to raise money for the Wildcat Baseball program.  The Dinner/Auction is being held at Normal West High School this year at 5:00 on Saturday, April 30th.

Featured items in the loud auction include:

  • Baseballs autographed by Albert Pujols, Andre Dawson and Ben Zobrist

The silent auctions will feature many fun and useful items for sports fans, those who like to eat out, those who use local services and even for moms.  Preview these items at:

Last year’s banquet raised over $11000 for the Wildcat Baseball program and helped fund the new batting cages.  This year’s funds will help toward a new concession stand/press box at the Freshmen field as well as a new scoreboard at West Varsity Field.  A few tickets are still available.  If interested, please contact Andy Jefferson at 309-846-6250 or maananstal@aol.com or just show up!

New Batting Cages Complete

 Batting Cage Pictures

On Saturday, September 11th, the Wildcat Diamond Club completed the turf batting cage project. The new batting cage was paid for primarily from funds raised at the Diamond Club Dinner/Auction this past May.

A great deal of hard work was done to get the old cage taken out and the new ones put in. Wildcat Diamond Club Board Member Dave Evans headed up the project. A tremendous amount of donated time and labor from fellow Wildcat Diamond Club members and baseball parents played a major role in completing the project.

The Diamond Club owes a “special thank you” to Russell Arbuckle from Edwards Architects LLC, Tony Sipes, Heritage Machine and Welding, Sunbelt Rentals and Boitnott Landscaping for their technical expertise, labor and equipment, which was critical to the successful completion of the project.

Click on the photo above to see photos of the old cage, the new cages under construction and the final product.

The Wildcat Diamond Club, Coach Hawkins and his staff, and current/future Wildcats are very appreciative of everyone who was involved in making the batting cage project a reality!
