Wildcats fight off a late Pekin comeback to win in the bottom of the 7th.

The Wildcats managed only 5 hits in the win over Pekin, but four of those hits were for extra bases. West manufactured two runs each in the 3rd and 4th to take the 4-2 lead into the 5th.  A leadoff double by Ryan Frye, a triple and RBI from Reid Birlingmair, and a passed ball pushed the lead to 6-2 in the 5th, before a late comeback by the Pekin Dragons.  Pekin tied the game up at 6-6 in the top of the 7th before a double by Cody Rogers, and a game-winning double and RBI by Reed Rogers ended the game with the Wildcat victory. 

Reid Birlingmair pitched the first 5.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and 7 strikeouts.  Steven Lorenz relieved in the 6th inning giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits.  Noah Johnson came in to close out the game in the 7th to earn the win.

Normal West record (4-4)

Next game tomorrow night at LaSalle Peru, 4:30 PM start.

Wildcats lose tough one in extra innings.

After falling behind 6-0, the Wildcats clawed their way back with a 5 run 6th and 3 run 7th to tie the game before losing in extra innings to Lincoln. Noah Johnson started for the Wildcats, going 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits.  Johnson struck out 4 and walked none.  Steven Lorenz threw 2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, striking out 2 and walking 2.  Nick Bronson took the loss pitching the 7th and 8th innings.  Bronson allowed 1 hit, striking out 4 and walking 6.  Offensively, the Wildcats were stymied for the first 5 innings, before a 5 run 6th inning outburst.  Led by Cody Rogers, Reid Birlingmair and Adam Hoerner all with 2 hits apiece.  Rogers had a 2 run homerun in the 7th inning.  West falls to (3-4).  Next game is at home against Pekin on Tuesday, April 1st at 4:!5 pm.

West Falls to Ranked Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin. 

Normal West suffered its second straight loss of the young season on Friday in Springfield.  Reid Rogers took the loss going 4 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits, 6 runs all earned.  Rogers struck out 6 and walked 3.  Ben Lawyer pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, giving up 5 hits, striking out 3 while giving up 3 runs.  The Wildcats could not get the bats going getting only 3 hits in the night cap.  West falls to (3-3), their next game is Saturday against Lincoln Railsplitters at Normal West Field.
