Summer Baseball 2016

BNBA Gold–Summer Travel Baseball 2016

The BNBA will support 8 Gold teams next summer. There will be 3 teams at 15U, 2 teams at 16U, 2 teams at 17U, and 1 team at 18U. There are some changes to be expected in regards to how the Gold teams have worked in the past. Here are a few expected changes:

  1. Gold teams will play on weekends only. No weekday games other than those played in weekend tournaments.
  2. There will be an All Star weekend tournament for both the 15U and 16U levels where only the top players from each level will be invited to play. These teams will be selected by the coaches at the 5 high schools with input from their respective Gold coaches. Players/families should know by July 1st whether they will be invited to the All Star weekend. There will be an additional cost for this in the neighborhood of $75-$100.

Normal West Wildcat–Summer Baseball 2016

This summer, Normal West will be trying something new. All prospects who make the Wildcat high school teams in the spring of 2016, will have the opportunity of participating on the high school JV and Varsity summer teams. All freshmen and some sophomores who make the Wildcat spring teams and some sophomores who make the sophomore team and all juniors who make the varsity in the spring will play on the summer Wildcat varsity team. The team plans to practice at least once per week. The teams plan to be entered into the CIBL based in the Peoria area and will play 1 DH per week for 5 weeks. There will be 2-3 home DH’s and 2-3 road DH’s for a total of 10-12 games, along with a league tournament at the end of the season. In addition, there is a plan for each team to be placed in a Diamond Sports Promotions weekend tournament in late July. The funding for these 2 teams will come from player fees which are yet TBD. Coaching salaries, umpires, field prep, and tournament fees must be covered from the player fees. Teams intend to use the H.S. uniforms. The plan is to have coaches from the Normal West coaching staff. Gold players will be welcomed too, but playing time priority will start with the non-Gold players. Gold schedules will always take precedence for the Gold players in regard to participation on the Wildcat summer teams.
