West bounces back in second game with win over visiting Moline Maroons.     

Reed Rogers and Reid Birlingmair combined to throw a 1 hit shutout against the visiting Maroons.  Rogers pitched 4 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 5 walks.  Birlingmair closed the final two innings with no hits, 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.  The Wildcats scored 10 runs on 9 hits.  Led by Mitch Fairfield, Reed Rogers and Mitch Thomas who each had 2 hits.  Reid Birlingmair and Ryan Frye both had 2 run homeruns while Tanner Rutledge added a solo shot in the 6th inning.  Fairfield, Birlingmair and Frye all had 2 RBI’s apiece, while Rogers and Rutledge each had 1 RBI.  The Wildcats next game will be at Springfield on Tuesday, March 25th

Wildcats struggle in opener and fall to Pekin.

Noah Johnson threw 4 scoreless innings, before allowing 6 runs, 3 earned in the 5th inning.  Johnson gave up 7 hits, struck out 3 and walked 1 in 4 2/3 innings.  Mitch Thomas came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings.  Thomas allowed 3 hits, 4 runs all earned, struck out 2 and walked 4.  Steven Lorenz threw a perfect 7th inning.  Reid Birlingmair led the Wildcats offense with a double on 2 hits.  Ryan Frye also added a double for the Wildcats who had 6 hits in the game.

The NCWHS JV Wildcats jumped out to an early lead before falling behind in the sixth and eventually succumbing 7-4 to Morton Monday night at Normal West.

Jake Rutkowski had a strong showing on the hill for the Cats, recording seven strikeouts while spreading out five hits and just one earned run over 5 innings of work.  Jake Marti closed out the final 2 frames, ringing up another strikeout in the defeat.

Marti (2 singles, 2 RBIs) and Tyler Ott (2 singles, 2 RBIs) led the offense for the Wildcats, with McCade Brown (double), Jeremy Fischer (single), Ben Smith (single), Ben Heberer (single), and Rutkowski (single) all contributing in the loss.

The Wildcats will look to grab their first victory when they return to the field Saturday morning at 10:00am to face Lincoln in a doubleheader at Normal West.
