Class of 2014 Wildcats sign to play in college

Class of 2014 Wildats Reed Rogers and Ryan Frye have each recently signed a letter of intent to continue their baseball career at the next level.  Rogers, a corner infielder, has chosen Heartland Community College.  Reed batted .424 with 1 home run and 27 runs batted in last year, his second as a varsity starter.  He also will be a top pitcher for the Wildcats again this spring, coming off a 4-0 record with a save and 1.70 ERA.   Frye, an outfielder, will continue his career at Evangel University, an NAIA school located in Springfield, Missouri.   Ryan batted .451 with 4 home runs and 38 runs batted in last year.

West Alumni Blake Brown took Michael Wacha DEEP!!

Wildcat alumni Blake Brown (’09) is now in the Atlanta Braves system, but before he turned pro, Blake and his teammates at University of Missouri had great success against the St. Louis Cardinals young ace, Michael Wacha.   This story in StlLouisToday.com talks about the Missouri Tigers success against Wacha when he was pitching for Texas A&M, and particularly notes a home run Blake hit off him in a big win.  This story from KCEN television provides more details of that particular game.

Later in the season, Blake faced him again in the conference tournament with the same result, as told by this story from Texas A&M website.
