NCWHS picked up right where they left off over the weekend, pounding three more homeruns in a 9-1 victory over Tri-Valley at Parkside field Monday evening.

Jeremy Fischer (2 homeruns, 2 RBIs) led the hit parade with solo homeruns in the 1st and 3rd innings for the Wildcats, with Jake Marti (1 homerun, 2 RBIs) adding a 2-run shot in the fourth.  Jake Rutkowski (double, single, RBI), Ben Smith (2 singles), and Chase Hacker (double) also came up big for the Cats – with Tyler Ott and McCade Brown adding key base hits in the win.

Marti recorded the win for the Wildcats, scattering seven hits, recording two strikeouts, and allowing no earned runs in six innings of work.  Holden Lueck came in to close down the seventh for the Cats, ringing up one additional strikeout.

NCWHS will look to stay hot when they take on Urbana Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm at Parkside field.

NCWHS Freshman split pair with Limestone, two homeruns fuel second game victory

NCWHS out hit the Limestone Rockets 7-6 in the first half of their double-header Saturday morning, but it wasn’t enough as the Cats came up on the short end of a 7-2 loss.

Jeremy Fischer (2 doubles, single) and Mark Ogden (double, single, RBI) stayed red hot for the Wildcats, with Holden Lueck (single, RBI) and Jake Marti (single) also contributing hits in the loss.

Tyler Joaquin started on the hump for NCWHS, scattering four hits and recording five strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings of work.  Zack Jones finished out the remaining 2 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits, two earned runs, and ringing up three more strikeouts.

NCWHS roared back in the 2nd game of their double-header, outscoring the Rockets 11-6 behind two run homeruns in the 3rd and 6th innings Saturday afternoon in Limestone.

Jake Marti (homerun, double, 2 singles, 4 RBIs) and Jake Rutkowski (homerun, 2 singles, 2 RBIs) led the Wildcats charge, each going deep – to center and left-center, respectively – in the victory.  Chase Hacker (double, single, RBI), Jeremy Fischer (2 singles, RBI), Ben Smith (single, RBI), and Max Deffenbaugh (single) also delivered key hits for the Wildcats.

Rutkowski also recorded the victory on the hill for the Wildcats, scattering three earned runs and logging three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work.  Hacker closed out the final 1 1/3 for NCWHS, allowing just one hit and adding two more strikeouts.

The NCWHS Freshman head back home for their next game Monday afternoon at 4:15pm, where they’ll take on Tri-Valley in non-conference action.

NCWHS improved their conference record to 3-2 after an 11-1 victory over Bloomington High School Friday evening.

Ethan Stroyan (2 doubles, single, 3 RBIs) and Mark Ogden (3 singles, 2 RBIs) led the way for the Wildcats attack, with Ryan Weber (double, 2 RBIs), McCade Brown (single, RBI), Jeremy Fischer (single, RBI), and Jake Rutkowski (single, RBI) all helping power the offense.  Holden Lueck and Ben Smith also had base hits for the Cats, and Tyler Ott added an RBI in the fifth.

Ben Smith was unstoppable on the mound for NCWHS, pitching a complete game and giving up just three hits and no earned runs while recording six strikeouts over six innings.

The NCWHS Freshman Wildcats head to Limestone Saturday morning for a double-header beginning at 10am.
