Jacob Evans steals home in the bottom of the 5th inning to tie the game before lightening and a torrential downpour delays the game. After the delay, Nick Hieb scores on Chris Smiciklas’ 6th inning hit.
Normal West (12-4) was victorious against Washington in the first game of a doubleheader. Ryan Frye got the win going four innings, allowing four hits, four runs, striking out two. Mitch Thomas got the final three outs, allowing no base runners and striking out one. Tanner Rutledge led the Wildcats, hitting for the cycle (single, double, triple and home run) and driving in seven runs. Rutledge hit his first homerun of the season in the third inning. Jared Graf also went 4 for 4 with a double and four RBI’s. Zach Breen had three hit, with a triple and drove in two. Mitch Thomas had two doubles while driving in one run. Ryan Frye hit a home run in the third inning.

The Wildcats suffered the loss in the second game at Washington. Steven Lorenz pitched two innings, allowing four hits, seven runs and three strikeouts. Noah Johnson pitched three innings, giving up six hits, five runs, striking out one. Zach Inselmann pitched one inning, allowing two hits, one run and striking out two. Seth Wiseman drove in three of the Wildcat runs on two hits. Evan Jefferson had two doubles driving in one run. Ryan Frye had two hits, one double. Normal West falls to (12-5). The Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday, May 11 at home against Bloomington.
