 Central Catholic took the lead from the start but WEST fought back in the seventh.  Jacob Evans hit a triple, scoring two.  Turner Reid followed with a sacrifice fly and Jacob scored the tying run.  Unfortunately, Central Catholic scored in the seventh to end the game.

The WILDCATS came back after the break full of energy.  Rumor has it the boys gained super powers from Mrs. Myers’ homemade donuts. 

 The offensive highlight of the game came in the sixth inning when Jacob Evans hit a two-run IN THE PARK HOMERUN!! 

 Defensive highlights included two double-plays and a throw from Chris Smiciklas to throw out the man trying to steal second.

 WEST started strong, batting through the line-up and scoring 5 runs in the first inning.  Rantoul pulled ahead in the fifth but WEST came back in the sixth to score two runs.

Wildcat freshmen suffer first loss of doubleheader vs. Morton.

Normal West Freshman lost their first game of the young season to Morton.  The lone hit by the Wildcats was a single in the 5th inning by Evan Jefferson.  Mitch Thomas (0-1) took the loss in his first outing of the year, pitching 3 innings giving up 3 hits, 2 earned runs and striking out 3.

Freshmen win 2nd game of the twin bill.040211_v_Morton_Freshman

In the second game of the double header, Normal West got the scoring going early, getting five runs in the second inning.  Reed Rogers went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI’s.  Ryan Frye continued his hot spring with his 3rd homerun of the season.  Ryan had two hits and 3 RBI’s.  Mitch Thomas added two hits for the Wildcats.  Zach Inselmann (1-0) got the win pitching two solid innings giving up two hits, striking out two while allowing no runs.  Zack Krampien came in and faced 12 batters, striking out five allowing two hits on two runs.  David Krueger closed out the win pitching the final two innings allowing no runs.  West is (2-1) on the season.
