Normal West JV picked up a hard fought victory against Limestone, defeating the Rockets 7-6 in 9 innings Friday evening at NCWHS.

Tyler Ott started on the mound for the Cats, recording six strikeouts against just two hits and four earned runs over 4 innings of work.  Camden Schwarz added two more strikeouts, allowed three hits and one earned run in the 5th, while McCade Brown was unhittable in the 6th, 7th, and 8th, logging four more strikeouts.  Mark Ogden closed the game and notched the victory for the Wildcats, registering one final strikeout during a scoreless 9th inning.

Jeremy Fischer (double, 2 singles, RBI) drove in Jake Rutkowski (single) with two out in the bottom of the ninth to secure the walk-off win for Normal West.  Ben Smith (3 singles, RBI), Tyler Ott (2 singles, RBI), Holden Lueck (single), and Max Deffenbaugh (RBI) all delivered timely offense to position the Cats for the victory.

Normal West returns to action when they travel to cross-town rival Bloomington to take on the Purple Raiders in a double-header beginning at 10am Saturday morning.

After a 5 inning pitcher’s duel, the Wildcats poured it on – scoring four runs in the sixth and ten runs in the seventh to walk away from Peoria Richwoods 16-3 Thursday evening in Peoria.

Jake Rutkowski pitched a complete game, seven inning masterpiece – allowing just one earned run, scattering four hits, and ringing up four strikeouts to secure the victory for the Cats.

Mark Ogden (4 singles, 2 RBIs) and Jeremy Fischer (single, double, 4 RBIs) paved the way for the Wildcats, with Ben Heberer (double, 3 RBIs), Rutkowski (double, RBI), and Max Deffenbaugh (single, 2 RBIs) delivering big hits as well.  McCade Brown (single), Ben Smith (single), and Chase Hacker (single) also delivered key base hits in the victory.

Normal West will look to avenge an early-season loss when Limestone visits NCWHS Friday evening at 4:30pm.

Normal West out-played Richwoods at the plate and on the mound, defeating the Knights 10-0 Tuesday evening at NCWHS.

Jeremy Fischer was nearly unhittable for the Wildcats, pitching a complete game, 5 inning shutout to secure the victory.  Fischer struck out five and gave up just two hits to the Knights.

Jake Rutkowski (homerun, RBI) blasted his first homerun of the year to lead the Cats, a walk-off missile to left field to end the game in the bottom of the fifth.  Max Deffenbaugh (2 singles, 3 RBIs) also came up big for West, with McCade Brown (single, RBI), Ben Smith (single, RBI), Tyler Ott (single), Holden Lueck (sac fly, 2 RBIs), and Jeremy Fischer (RBI) all contributing to the victory.

Normal West will return to action when they visit the Knights Thursday evening in Peoria at 4:30pm.
