On another cold, blustery day the Wildcats battle to a close win.

The Wildcats were led by a complete game pitching performance from Reed Rogers. Rogers allowed only 2 hits, 2 runs, in 7 innings of work on the hill with 6 strikeouts.

Offensively, West was led by Cody Rogers with two hits and two RBIs.  Blake Parker made a great contribution today as well with a double, game tying RBI, and game winning run scored.

West will play again tomorrow vs Ottawa/ Metamora; game time 10:00 A.M.

Wildcats’ pitchers combine for a 4-hit shutout win over LaSalle Peru.

The winning pitcher for the Wildcats was starter, Nick Bronson, going 4 innings and allowing 2 hits and 5 strikeouts.  Reed Rogers pitched the next two innings allowing 2 hits and 1 strikeout.  Mitch Thomas completed the shutout with three straight strikeouts to complete the game and earn the save.

Offensively, the Wildcats were able to manufacture single runs in the 1st, 4th, and 7th, for the 3-0 win.  West was led by Adam Hoerner (2 for 2), and Tanner Rutledge, with two hits including a double and a run scored.

Varsity will play next at East Peoria, Friday, April 4th.  (V/JV at 4:00 pm)

Wildcats start slow, win big – defeat Rantoul 15-5

The West JV Wildcats picked up their fourth straight victory, defeating Rantoul 15-5 at soggy Wabash Park Friday evening.

Jake Rutkowski secured the win for the Cats, recording five strikeouts, scattering six hits, and allowing three earned runs over 5 strong innings of work.  Zack Jones was dominant in relief, registering four more strikeouts while allowing no hits or earned runs over the final 2 frames.

Rutkowski (double, single, 5 RBIs), McCade Brown (2 doubles, 3 RBIs), and Jeremy Fischer (double, single, 3 RBIs) led the offense, with Jake Marti (homerun, 2 RBIs) delivering a towering home run to left field to cap off a seven run seventh inning for the Wildcats.  Ben Smith (single, RBI) and Holden Lueck (RBI) also came up big for the Cats in the victory.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, where they’ll face Metamora and Ottawa in a three-team round-robin at Normal West beginning at 10am.
