The NCWHS Wildcats got the bats going in the middle innings, but couldn’t catch Washington – losing the first half of their double header 12-7 Saturday morning.

Jake Rutkowski started on the mound for the Wildcats, recording a strikeout and allowing three earned runs over two innings of work.  Zack Jones pitched 2 2/3 innings and registered four strikeouts, while Chase Hacker closed out the final 2 1/3 innings adding one more strikeout and allowing just one earned run.

Tyler Ott (2 singles, double, RBI) and Jake Marti (single, double, 2 RBIs) led the way for NCWHS, with Rutkowski adding a double and Hacker adding two singles and an RBI.  Jones and Camden Schwarz also recorded singles for the Wildcats.

NCWHS jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the second game of their double-header against Washington Saturday afternoon.

Tyler Ott was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats, starting on the mound and throwing three innings, recording four strikeouts and allowing just one earned run.  Ben Smith pitched the final three innings, ringing up two more strikeouts and allowing no earned runs.

Jeremy Fischer (single, double, 3 RBIs) and Ott (single, double, 1 RBI) led the way for the Cats, with Mark Ogden adding two singles and two RBIs and Jake Marti logging two more singles and three runs scored.  McCade Brown also had a base hit and two RBIs to round out the Wildcats offense.

The NCWHS Freshman Wildcats head back on the road for their next game Monday afternoon at 4:30pm when they take on Champaign Central in conference action.

The NCWHS Freshman dropped a tough game to conference rival NCHS 5-2 at home Thursday evening.

Mark Ogden and Jeremy Fischer led the offense for the Wildcats, both collecting a pair of singles.  Tyler Joaquin added a single in the sixth, plating Tyler Ott and Mark Ogden.  Ott also doubled in the first, and Max Deffenbaugh added a single to round out the offense for the Cats.

The Wildcat pitchers gave up only three earned runs on the day.  Joaquin started on the mound for NCWHS, throwing three innings, recording three strikeouts and giving up four hits and two earned runs.  Ogden closed out the final four innings for the Cats, logging five strikeouts while giving up just three hits and one earned run.

The NCWHS Freshman Wildcats return to action at home Saturday morning with a doubleheader against Washington at 10:00am.

The NCWHS Freshman seventh inning rally fell just short, as they dropped a close one to St. Thomas More 15-12 Monday evening in Champaign.

 Jeremy Fischer and Ben Smith powered the offense for the Wildcats, with Fischer collecting a pair of doubles and four RBIs and Smith adding an RBI double and a single.  Ethan Stroyan added a pair of RBI singles, while Jake Marti and Holden Lueck added singles and two RBIs each.  McCade Brown and Jake Rutkowski also recorded singles, rounding out the offense for NCWHS.

 Jake Marti started on the hill and worked 3 2/3 innings for the Wildcats.  Holden Lueck chipped in 1 1/3 innings and recorded three strikeouts, with Tyler Joaquin closing out the sixth inning – allowing no hits and recording one strikeout.

The NCWHS Freshman Wildcats return to conference action at home Thursday evening against NCHS at 4:30pm.
