5-26-12 vs. Mattoon

Normal West wins Big 12 Conference Championship and finishes with a school record 29 wins!

Normal West won the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship game on Saturday against Mattoon. It was a thrilling game for both teams with Mitch Thomas getting the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 6th inning. Steven Lorenz went 3 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs while striking out 1. Noah Johnson came in and pitched 4 solid innings shutting down the Mattoon lineup by allowing just 1 hit and striking out 5. Johnson was able to get the win for the Wildcats with his strong performance. Reid Birlingmair had a 2-run triple in the third inning that tied the game after Mattoon put up two runs in the 3rd inning. Birlingmair ended the day with two hits and two RBI’s. Normal West finished the season (29-9) which is a school record for the Sophomore baseball team with 29 wins in a season. Congratulations to the Normal West Wildcats on a great and memorable season!

Normal West advances to Big 12 Championship game with win over NCHS.

Normal West won a thrilling game over cross town rival Normal Community Monday night to advance to the Championship game of the Big 12 Conference Tournament. Reed Rogers pitched 4 solid innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs striking out 1. Noah Johnson came in and pitched the last 4 innings with a gutty performance, striking out 3 and allowing just 2 walks. The Wildcats were let by Evan Jefferson and Noah Johnson with 2 hits each. Blake Parker hit the game winning single in the bottom of the 8th inning after Evan Jefferson singled and Seth Wiseman bunted him over.
