Wildcats start season with win over the Silver Streaks in Galesburg!

On Saturday March 17^th the Normal West Wildcats started the season with a victory over the host, Galesburg Silver Streaks. Steven Lorenz got the win going 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, all earned. Lorenz had six strikeouts and two walks. Noah Johnson came in and closed out the final two innings to get the save. Johnson had 1 strikeout and allowed no base runners retiring all six batters he faced. Blake Parker and Reid Birlingmair both had doubles and each had 1 RBI to pace the Wildcats.

Wildcats suffer loss in second game.

Normal West took the loss in the second game Saturday against the Moline Maroons. Ryan Frye pitched 3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks. Mitch Thomas pitched 2 innings of relief giving up 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and a strikeout. Reid Birlingmair pitched the final two innings, Birlingmair gave up 4 hits, 4 runs all earned. He allowed to walks and struck out 1. Blake Parker, Reid Birlingmair and Mitch Thomas all had multiple hits, Thomas led the Wildcats with 2 RBI’S. Normal West is now (1-1) on the season.
