4-02-2014 vs. LaSalle Peru Cavaliers

Wildcats’ pitchers combine for a 4-hit shutout win over LaSalle Peru.

The winning pitcher for the Wildcats was starter, Nick Bronson, going 4 innings and allowing 2 hits and 5 strikeouts.  Reed Rogers pitched the next two innings allowing 2 hits and 1 strikeout.  Mitch Thomas completed the shutout with three straight strikeouts to complete the game and earn the save.

Offensively, the Wildcats were able to manufacture single runs in the 1^st, 4^th, and 7^th, for the 3-0 win.  West was led by Adam Hoerner (2 for 2), and Tanner Rutledge, with two hits including a double and a run scored.

Varsity will play next at East Peoria, Friday, April 4^th.  (V/JV at 4:00 pm)

4-01-2014 vs. Pekin Dragons

Wildcats fight off a late Pekin comeback to win in the bottom of the 7th.

The Wildcats managed only 5 hits in the win over Pekin, but four of those hits were for extra bases. West manufactured two runs each in the 3^rd and 4^th to take the 4-2 lead into the 5^th.  A leadoff double by Ryan Frye, a triple and RBI from Reid Birlingmair, and a passed ball pushed the lead to 6-2 in the 5^th, before a late comeback by the Pekin Dragons.  Pekin tied the game up at 6-6 in the top of the 7^th before a double by Cody Rogers, and a game-winning double and RBI by Reed Rogers ended the game with the Wildcat victory. 

Reid Birlingmair pitched the first 5.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and 7 strikeouts.  Steven Lorenz relieved in the 6^th inning giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits.  Noah Johnson came in to close out the game in the 7^th to earn the win.
