NCWHS jumped out early and held on for a 6-4 victory in a rain-shortened start to their double-header with the Purple Raiders in Bloomington Saturday morning.

Mark Ogden started on the bump for the Wildcats, throwing 5 1/3 strong innings while ringing up four strikeouts and scattering five hits and just two earned runs en-route to the victory.  Zack Jones pitched the final 2/3, logging another strikeout while allowing no hits or earned runs before the rains came.

McCade Brown (2 singles, 2 RBIs) led the hit-parade for the Cats, with Ogden (single, 3 RBIs) and Tyler Ott (single, RBI) also driving in runs in the victory.  Jeremy Fischer, Jake Rutkowski, Ben Smith, Holden Lueck, Max Deffenbaugh, and Chase Hacker all delivered timely base hits to secure the win.

Camden Schwarz started on the hill for the Normal West, lasting 4 innings and logging two strikeouts, nine hits, and six earned runs.  Chase Hacker took the loss, throwing 1 inning while registering two more strikeouts against just one hit and one earned run before giving way to Jeremy Fischer for the final inning.  Fischer recorded an additional strikeout, gave up two hits, and allowed one earned run in relief.

Tyler Ott (2 singles) and McCade Brown (2 singles) stayed hot for the Wildcats, while Matthew Pritchett (single, 2 RBIs), Zack Jones (single, RBI), Ben Smith (single, RBI), Ben Heberer (single), and Ethan Stroyan (single) all provided key offense in the loss.

The Wildcats will return to action when they face cross-town rival Normal Community Tuesday evening at Normal West at 4:30pm.
