The NCWHS Freshman fell 4-2 to Mahomet-Seymour at home Wednesday evening, despite a stellar pitching performance by Ben Smith and a seventh inning rally that came up just short.
Smith pitched a gem for the Wildcats, recording six strikeouts and allowing no earned runs and just two hits over six innings. Tyler Joaquin came on in relief to close out the seventh for the Cats.
Zack Jones (2 singles) led the offense for the Wildcats, with Ryan Weber, Tyler Ott, Mark Ogden, and Max Deffenbaugh all adding singles in the loss.
The NCWHS Freshman Wildcats return to the road with a 5pm game at Central Catholic Friday evening.
